Jobs Surging in the Silver State

According to the Nevada Department of Employment,Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR), Nevada’s June 2022 economic report shows that the Silver State added 7,600 jobs during the month, and job growth is up 90,400 since June 2021—a 6.6 percent annual increase.

According to Governor Sisolak and DETR’s press release, Nevada has not only recovered all of the jobs lost during the COVID-19 pandemic but has also reached a new all-time high of 1,452,600 jobs. 

According to the Nevada Workforce, 155,00 jobs are from the educational and health sectors, and 205,500 jobs are from professional and business services. Leisure and hospitality had over 333,000 jobs in the month of June, while trade, transportation, and utilities had over 289,000 jobs. 

Each of the respective occupational sectors above had an annual increase of at least 7,000 jobs, including over 30,000 new jobs in the leisure and hospitality sector alone. 

Nevada’s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in June, down from 4.9 percent in May and down from 7.2 percent in June 2021.
